[The Public = Daniel Park] The iron gate of the Blue House, which had been tightly closed for 74 years, opened wide with the inauguration of President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 10th.

The door to the Blue House was opened at 11:37 a.m. on the same day, during the inauguration ceremony of President Yoon.

Starting with the 74 national representatives who were waiting with plum blossoms in their hands when the door opened, the people who won through pre-application walked into the Blue House all at once with the slogan ‘Open the Blue House’s main gate’.

The government selected 74 representatives considering the fact that the most powerful people have stayed at the Blue House for 74 years since the establishment of the Republic of Korea in 1948. The representatives of the people consisted of human cultural assets, cultural commentators of Seoul, and officials from nearby schools, and some foreigners were also included.

The opening scene of the Blue House was broadcast live on the screen installed in the National Assembly where President Yoon's inauguration ceremony was held, and President Yoon also watched it.

Visitors enjoyed the performance of the Royal Palace Cultural Festival, which was opened on the same day by the Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace Relics Headquarters and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation to coincide with the opening of the Blue House, and took commemorative photos while walking around.

You can enter and exit the Blue House area through the main gate, Yeongbinmun, and Chunchumun. Visitors can see the main building, Yeongbingwan, and Nokjiwon, as well as the official residence and Chimryugak, which were on the existing Blue House tour.

It is expected that it will take between 1 and 30 minutes to 2 hours to see the entire area at a leisurely pace. However, the inside of the building is not open to the public.

With the opening of the Blue House, it is now possible to walk around the historical axis leading to Baekaksan (Bukaksan), the main mountain of Hanyang during the Joseon Dynasty.

President Yoon, who started his official duties at 00:00 that day, visited the National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul before his inauguration ceremony at 11 a.m. and visited the Memorial Tower.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the front yard of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, under the slogan of 'Korea Again! The country of people'.

About 40,000 attendees and citizens outside the fence filled the front of the National Assembly. The president walked about 180 meters from the main gate of the National Assembly to the stage of his inauguration and exchanged greetings with the citizens.

In his inaugural address, President Yoon said, "I am here today with the vocation of the times to rebuild a country where the people are the true masters based on liberal democracy and a market economy system, and to make it a country that fulfills its responsibilities and roles in the international community."

In particular, he emphasized 'liberal democracy' and called for rationalism and intellectualism instead of anti-intellectualism, and to overcome social conflicts through growth through scientific and technological innovation.

President Yoon mentioned 'anti-intellectualism' as the biggest cause of the crisis of democracy. He said, "In order for people with different views to adjust and compromise each other's positions, science and truth must be presupposed. That is the rationalism and intellectualism that support democracy."

"Anti-intellectualism, in which the truth is distorted by excessive collective conflicts between countries and within countries, and each chooses only the facts they want to see and hear, or suppress the opinions of others with the power of the majority, puts democracy at risk and loses faith in democracy," he said.

President Yoon emphasized that "excessive polarization and social conflict in our country not only threatens freedom and democracy, but is holding back social development."

“In the process of rapid growth, many people can find new opportunities, and by improving social mobility, we can eliminate the sources of polarization and conflict,” he said.

He added that "rapid growth can only be achieved through science, technology and innovation."

"We should seek a sustainable peace that blossoms freedom and prosperity, not a fragile peace that temporarily avoids war," he said.

Regarding the North Korean issue, he said, "We will open the door to dialogue for a peaceful solution to North Korea's nuclear development, which threatens peace not only on the Korean Peninsula but also in Asia and the world. We will prepare a bold plan to dramatically improve the North Korean economy and the quality of life of North Koreans in cooperation with the government."

Finally, he declared that he would create "a country where the people are the true masters, a country that is respected and respected by the international community based on the values of freedom, human rights, fairness and solidarity."
